Girls softball falls to Medford in tourney

The Everett High softball team came up on the short end of a 13-0 decision to Medford in the preliminary round of the MIAA Division 1 State Softball Tournament at Medford last Saturday.

The Lady Crimson Tide has entered the tourney as the #34 seed in D-1 with a 15-5 record, while the Lady Mustangs came in as the #31 seed with an 18-2 mark.

The teams had met twice during the regular season with Medford, the undefeated GBL champs with a 14-0 record, winning handily on both occasions. The Lady Crimson Tide, who finished as runner-up to Medford in the GBL, had hoped that the third time might be the charm, but that did not prove to be the case.

EHS girls lax wraps up season

The Everett High girls lacrosse team concluded its season against a trio of strong opponents.

“As we concluded our season, we faced three challenging home games that truly tested our team’s spirit,” said EHS head coach Nicola Jones.

In a contest with Lowell, the Lady Crimson Tide fell short by a score of 18-3. Everett’s goals were scored by Trinh Dang, Amanda Verteiro, and Victoria Rodrigues.

“The game showcased our determination, but it wasn’t enough to clinch the win,” noted Jones.

The following day, the Tide faced another tough opponent in Medford. Victoria Rodrigues scored Everett’s only goal in an 18-1 loss. “The team fought hard, and I’m proud of how they continued to come together as a team every game,” said Jones.

In the season-finale against Malden, the Tide came up on the short end of a 17-6 decision.

“We poured our hearts into the game,” said Jones. “Although we lost 17-6, the effort was commendable.”

Nicole Damaceno scored twice, Victoria Rodrigues added three, and both Mel Meireles and Amanda Verteiro chipped in with one goal each.

“This season was a constant reminder that it’s not just about the score — it’s about the growth the team has made together,” Jones said. “This season has been a testament to our resilience and teamwork. As we look forward to next year, it’s clear that the seniors will be greatly missed. They’ve left an indelible mark on our team, and their leadership will inspire us as we strive to come back even stronger.”
