Last week five local organizations were honored with $20,000 Federal Community Block Grants each. The agencies include:
Mystic Valley Elder Services
Everett Adult Learning Center
Bread of Life
Housing Families
Rediscovery at JRI.
The names of the organizations that received the grants show how these groups touch the lives of our residents from the young to the old. The work of maintaining and supporting programs for such diverse groups in our community is what helps keep us strong.
We thank Congressman Michael Capuano, our State House Leaders, Rep. Joseph McGonagle and Sen. Sal DiDomenico, Mayor Carlo DeMaria, and city officials for working to secure these grants.
In this era of fiscal austerity, every dollar that is raised helps. But when you have a large grant of $100,000 divided among five agencies, then some real helping can occur.
