Recently over 100 of Everett’s youth, who are attending the City Works summer camp, assisted the Everett Beautification Committee in building flower beds and planting flowers outside of the Samuel Gentile Recreation Center. Camp members and counselors planted the flowers in an effort to teach the youth about the importance of community participation and maintaining a clean and beautiful City.
“The main objective of the community service initiatives completed by City Works is to unite the youth with community members and organizations and to teach them to work selflessly towards a common service goal,” stated Mayor DeMaria.
City Works is a six-week summer program filled with activities that include arts and crafts, daily pool time, entertainment, weekly field trips, community service and much more.
The program accommodates children between the ages of six and thirteen.
