Girls soccer falls to Somerville

The Everett High girls soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to Somerville last Friday. The Lady Crimson Tide battled their GBL rival to a 1-1 standoff through the first half, but Somerville struck for three unanswered markers to claim the victory.

Junior Ana Souza, who had been playing defense until this game, scored the Everett goal, assisted by Julianna Martins. Souza’s tally evened matters at 1-1 at the time.

“The girls played well and never gave up,” said EHS head coach DeAnn Larrabee. “But we had some tough breaks and some calls go against us,” noted the coach, citing an apparent Somerville offsides that was not called and resulted in the first Somerville goal. Later in the game Everett was called for a hand ball just outside the Everett goal box that also led to a Somerville tally.

Larrabee and her girls hosted Randolph Monday and will host Medford this evening (Wednesday)  under the lights at the Stadium at 7:00. They will host Malden Friday evening, also under the lights, and entertain Quincy on Monday, followed by a trek to Cambridge next Wednesday.
