The Everett High boys indoor track team came close to a victory in their meet with Lynn Classical last week, but fell short by a 45-41 margin.
Peter Duperier and David Lima continued their outstanding indoor seasons with victories in their specialities. Pete outran the field in the 300 in 37.2 and David outdistanced all competitors in the 600 in 1:25.9.
Matt Huse also came through with a first place effort for Coach Shelanda Irish’s squad, capturing the 1000 in 2:54.5. The other winning performance for the Crimson Tide came in the 4 x 400 relay, as the quartet of Lima, Dom Mucci, Nick D’Angelo, and Duperier raced to victory in 4:07.2.
Second place finishers who placed three points onto the Everett score sheet were: Ken Bailey in the 50 dash in 6.1 and in the shotput with a throw of 42-4; Ivan Velev in the 600 in 1:27.7; Fardin Abdul Zaher in the 1000 in 2:59.1; and Ricky Perez in the two mile in 12:10.2.
Pierry Etienne completed an Everett sweep in the 600 with a third place finish in 1:34.9. Other Crimson Tide competitors who added a point for their team were Michael Garofalo in the 50 yard hurdles in 8.16, an impressive outing for his first effort in that event; Jepthe Jean in the dash in 6.2; D’Angelo in the 300 in 38.7; Matheus Turra in the mile in 6:07.7; and Cody Dingman with a throw of 40-5.5 in the shotput.
With their dual meet season now completed, the boys will focus on the GBL meets this week, with the JV meet tomorrow (Thursday) at Somerville and the varsity meet Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.
