Everett Little League Baseball Opens New Season Saturday

Everett is known as a football city, but baseball is about to make a big comeback – and to be fair, let’s not forget that Stacy Poste Schiavo’s EHS softball program is second to none.

Brian Savi is the new president of Everett Little League, replacing the venerable George Castiello, and on Saturday, the youth baseball organization will begin its 2023 season with an Opening Day parade starting at the old high school at 10 a.m., followed by ceremonies at Sacramone Park.

Savi said he has invited dignitaries to the Opening Day program, including Mayor Carlo DeMaria, State Sen. Sal DiDomenico, Reps. Joseph McGonagle, Judith Garcia, and Dan Ryan, and members of the City Council and School Committee.

Opening Day is always a special occasion, but this year’s event has additional significance as Savi will unveil brand new batting cages at Sacramone Park.

Savi was instrumental in bringing the batting cages to the facility. Use of the batting cages for Everett Little League players will be available during each team’s practices.

Savi and his hard-working board of directors are excited about the new season. “We have 210 players in the program, which is phenomenal,” said Savi. “We’re slowing becoming a baseball city.”
