From the Mayor’s Office: Meet the Team: Cathy Draine

Cathy Draine is an employee of the Department of Diversity and Inclusion and has worked for the City of Everett for 3 weeks.

What do you do in the City?

I serve the city as the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. My work is to support the Mayor’s continued efforts to make everyone feel seen, heard and have a sense of belonging in the City.

What is your favorite part about working for the City?

So far, my favorite part of working for the City, is meeting people and hearing their stories. There are wonderful people here and I am excited about the work we preparing to do.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your role?

“There is nothing enlightening about shrinking so other people don’t feel insecure around you … As we let our own light shine we unconsciously give people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fears, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~Marrianne Williamson

What do you like to do when you are not working?

When I am not working I enjoy hanging with my daughter Ailey. I also enjoy karaoke and binge watching Netflix movies/shows!!!!
