From the Mayor’s Office: Meet the Team: Sylvia Navarro-Olivares

What do you do in the City? “Administrative Assistant to the City Clerk. I started working at the Connolly Center before coming here. I do a little bit of everything that is offered in the City Clerk’s Office. I help customers everyday with getting licenses and certificates such as birth, marriage, and business, and also process fees and provide receipts. I work with the archives, process payroll and assist with any translations that come my way, into Spanish and Portuguese. I also make sure that everything stays organized.”

What is your favorite part about working for the City? “Giving back to the community and being a part of the community, it’s the beauty of it. I go home happy. I love getting to meet new people every day!”

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned from your roll? “I’m aways learning in this role, and I love it. I never had any clue about licenses. I also learned that staying organized is so important.”

What do you like to do when your are not working? “I am a certified translator, so I do this on my spare time. When I want a break, I love to go away on vacation and relax. I like to travel and see my family in El Salvador. I also like going to church and meeting new people. I sleep happy when I can say I met someone new today!”
