Mayor Designates December ‘Fine-Free’ Month

Mayor Carlo DeMaria is happy to announce that the City of Everett is partnering with Everett Public Libraries to waive all fees for the month of December.

Mayor DeMaria stated, “We want residents of all ages to use and enjoy the library.  We all are forgetful sometimes, but that’s ok. I hope people will take advantage of this rare opportunity to clear their accounts and return to the library.”

Residents are encouraged to bring in items they have checked out but were unable to return on time. The library will eliminate all fines for that item. We are asking patrons to bring in those long overdue books, CDs, DVDs and other item, even if they have been overdue for months, weeks or years.  There are some exceptions. Fees for damaged or lost items will not be waived. The goal of this amnesty month is to both get overdue materials back into the Library and to foster community goodwill.

Mark your calendars — you will not want to miss this opportunity to clear your accounts.

In addition, if this month produces a strong turnout, the mayor may elect to declare another fine-free month in the future.
