Carl Walker

Carl T. Walker passed away on January 5 at the Golden Living Center – Dexter House. He was 86 years old.
Carl was born in Boston on December 1, 1929, the natural son of the late Bertha M. (Sparrow) Anderson of Malden and James Covenia. Carl was adopted by the late Loney F. Walker and Doris Taliaferro Walker of Everett. He grew up in Everett, attended the Everett Public Schools and graduated from the Everett Vocational High School, Class of 1948. He continued his education at Franklin Institute in Boston where he received his associate degree. Carl worked for the Commonwealth of Mass Dept of Employment and Training as a computer programmer unti his retirement in 2013 at the age of 84.
Carl was a US Army veteran of the Korean War having served his country as a Crypto Analyst.
He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Collins) Walker and the loving father of Karl T Walker and his wife, Tina of Maryland, Lyle C. Walker and his wife, Thomesa of Everett and Bonita F. (Walker) Stuger and her husband, Shaun of Colorado. Carl was also the father of Marla Smith-Akumanyi and granddaughter Ariel of North Carolina. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Khari Walker, Tayler Stuger, Jordyn Stuger, Gabriel Stuger, Nathaniel Walker, Lionel Walker and Tatiana Walker. He leaves several sisters and brothers; Dorothy Gomez, Bette Anderson Chisholm, Mitzi Anderson Prout, Jo-Francis Thomas, Alma Greer, Menona Wynne-Jones, H. Richard Anderson, Neal Anderson, and the late Shirley Anderson Richardson, Patricia McLaughlin, Wilburt Anderson, James Covenia-Bay and Warren Covenia. He is also survived by seven foster sisters (The Walker Girls); Gloria L. Fox, Louise Andrews, Winifred Bell, Beverly A. Dinkins and the late Lorraine King, Raushanah Shabazz and Janice Owens and by many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Period of Visitation will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 20 Hillside Avenue, Malden on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 7 p.m. and services will be held at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Cemetery on Friday at 10 a.m. Arrangements are by The Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, 519 Broadway, Everett.
