Mayor Carlo DeMaria and his administration recently offered these updates to ongoing Capital Improvement Projects across the City:

City Services

Mayor DeMaria recently met with senior staff to ensure that the procedures, staffing, and supplies are effectively in place for the fall and winter seasons.  A new John Deere riding lawn mower has been added to the City Services fleet to ensure that park crews are prepared for fall maintenance.  A new pickup truck, box truck, and a skid steer have also been ordered per the capital improvement plan.

Street and sidewalk    Construction

Miles of streets are currently being reconstructed as part of the pavement management plan.  Under the pavement management plan, the City’s goal is to maintain all streets at a quality four rating. The ongoing street maintenance will reduce the need for more expensive maintenance over the years.

Madeline English Park

Construction on the Madeline English Park is near completion.  Improvements include a new multi-purpose field and an official running track, which will allow the high school to have track meets in Everett.  Small aesthetic details, such as the welcome sign, are being finalized before the grand re-opening.

Florence Street Park

A Florence Street Park design has been commissioned. The park will benefit from restructuring, upgrades, and additional features for children and families.  Some of the highlights of the playground design include a state of the art water spray park, picnic area, refurbished tot-lot, a newly added playground for older children, additional swings, and the relocation of the swing set to a shadier area of the playground.

Fire

Two new pumper trucks have been ordered for the Fire Department, and are slated to arrive in a couple of weeks.  The Chief and Deputy Chief will inspect the new trucks and once approved they will be added to the EFD fleet.
