The Everett Police and Fire departments each got new officers Monday night, as the Everett City Council approved the appointments of one new police officer and two new firefighters unanimously.

Rookie police officer Diego Custodio was the first to be appointed and take the oath of office. He was joined in the chambers by his wife.

Following the swearing in of Custodio, the Council approved the appointment of Samuel Rutledge and Chad Kelble to the Everett Fire Department as well.

All three of the new public safety appointments fill vacancies in their departments.

Following the report and recommendations of the Community and Business Development Committee, the Council approved three lodging house petitions on Monday as well.

David A. Molle, doing business as Fennos, was approved for a lodging house license at 336 Broadway and Caritas Communities Inc. received two lodging house licenses for facilities at 76 Norwood Street and 19 Hancock Street.
