Peter Napolitano Announces for Council at Large Post

The following is the announcement of Peter Napolitano who is a candidate for City Council at Large:

My name is Peter A. Napolitano and I am a candidate for the new City Council elected city wide this fall. I have been honored to serve the residents of Everett for many years as a member of the Common Council representing Ward One. For over 20 years, I have been a strong and active advocate for city government reform; pushing to restructure the City Council from 2 bodies of 25 members to a single body of 11 elected officials. Many of our neighbors agreed with me and the result is this fall’s historic election for Everett’s first unicameral city council. I am currently running for one of the five City Council At Large seats this fall and humbly ask for your consideration and vote this November.

I am a life-long resident of Everett for over 56 years and reside on Cottage Street. My wife, Vivian and I have been married for 34 years and have raised four children, all Everett High school graduates. After High school and some college, I enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after serving on active duty for eight years. I am a former Everett business owner with strong ties to the Everett business community such as the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis. I have experience in the financial industry and currently work in customer service. I am an active member at the Immaculate Conception church.

I am also a former member of the Common Council. First elected in 1999, I have served on the following sub-committees: Public Safety, Public Service, Celebrations (former Chairman), Finance, Budget (former Chairman) and Rules & Ordinances. I have had a hand in shaping many of the ordinances passed over the past 14 years. I have worked closely with police and fire to ensure streets and neighborhoods are safer. I have persistently gone the distance to make sure constituent questions get answered. I take my representing you very serious.

Everett is at the crossroads of historic changes. I fully support the Wynn casino project and feel that it will transform the city with new development and increased tax revenue. I am also apprehensive that issues like traffic and the need for increased city and public services be addressed too. A strong minded and independent city council is necessary to ensure that your concerns are represented. With financial difficulties still plaguing many of our residents and businesses, this year’s election is critical to ensure that the best individuals are elected based on qualifications and performance. The tough times for Everett are not behind us yet and decisions will need to be made for the betterment of our community.

My name is Peter A. Napolitano and I am asking for one of your five votes for City Councilor At Large.  If you would like to assist me in my campaign or have an issues or questions, I can be reached at 617-389-7340, email me at [email protected] or friend me on Facebook. This fall there are no incumbent candidates. Make sure that you elect someone who has the knowledge, experience, integrity and desire to represent you. I am that someone. Vote for Peter A. Napolitano for City Council At large. Thank you for your consideration.
