Wednesday will mark the Jewish High Holiday of Yom Kippur. For Jews this is the most sacred and holy day of the year, when God closes the Book of Life after deciding whose names get written into it.
The Day of Atonement is indeed the moment all Jews are asked to atone for the sins they committed during the past year.
Yom Kippur is also a day for wiping clean the record for the new year.
It is highlighted by a day of fasting and introspection, followed by a breaking of the fast with a dairy based meal among family and friends after sunset.
You do not have to be Jewish to be in concert with oneself about atoning for sins committed during the past year.
If God is in fact watching over all of us, then Yom Kippur, is a day all of us should take part in to set our personal records straight.
