“The Hiker,” Everett’s longstanding monument to commemorate the Spanish American War was moved to a new home at Werner Park in North Everett to clear a path for the new 9/11 Memorial in Everett Square. Crews from Marchese Construction were on hand to move the bronze statue and the 10,000lb base.
With the move, the construction season is set to begin in the City including many streets, sidewalks, plus major renovation work by National Grid to repair and replace gas lines. The city will also be wrapping up a number of projects including the rehabilitation of the Everett Stadium main entrance, the construction of the Veterans Roll Call Board, and the completion of Air Force Road.
