Huge Health Event at EHS Wednesday

More than 1000 women of all ages and from every walk of life are expected to attend the ninth annual Celebrating Women event which is being held at Everett High School from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday.

It is an enormous event geared for women and will include health information, raffles, prizes, community awards, guest speakers, ballroom dancing and exercise demonstrations.

A free, boxed supper is being provided which will be prepared by Square Deli Catering of Everett. In keeping with the health theme of the evening, the boxed dinner will include healthy sandwiches and treats only.

The event is being hosted by Massachusetts General Hospital Community Health Centers in Chelsea, Charlestown, Revere, Everett, The North End Waterfront Health Center and the MGH Center for Community Health Improvement.

Dr. Wayne Wescott, PH.D, the Director of the exercise Science Program at Quincy College will present this year’s theme, Celebrating Women, Moving Through the Ages.

Wescott is a teacher and researcher and the author of 24 fitness books including, Strength Training Past 50 and Youth Strength Training.

Raheem Baraka (Rae), the event’s special presenter, is the Director of Fitness & Employee Wellness Program, MGH Revere HealthCare Center.

Rae will deliver and preside over an interactive presentation featuring some of his students in a broad range of ages.
