Emilia Lamberti

Emilia (Dascoli) Lamberti of Everett died on September 24.

She was the beloved wife of Pasquale; mother of Giulia M., Nino and Fernando, all of Everett and Aldo and his wife, Robin of Wakefield; sister of the late Vincenzo Ascoli and Sabato Ascoli. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Nicholas and Kaylee and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Everett, Thursday, September 29, at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Massat  St. Anthony Church, Everett at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Strong, Caring and Loving Woman 

Maria Carvalho Pinto of Everett, originally from Brazil, died on September 23.

She will be remembered as a strong, caring and loving woman “a marvelous example to be followed.”

She was the loving mother of Maria “Neves”, Imilia “Dora”, Zenirda, Oliveira, Zilda, Zelia, Zelione, Orister and Gesiane; sister of Anna Augusto Pinto, Miguel, Pedro and Taninha; devoted grandmother to 14 grandchildren and  one great grandchild.

Louise Caiazzo

Of Wilmington, formerly of Everett

Louise I. (Cafasso) Caiazzo of Wilmington, formerly of Everett, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 24. She was 81 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas S. Caiazzo, devoted mother of Thomas S. Caiazzo, Jr. and his wife, Nan of Andover, Janet Reddington and her husband, Dennis of Oviedo, FL, Judi Diamond and her husband, John and Jean Caiazzo, all of Tewksbury, Jayne Scanlan and her husband, Michael of Louisville, KY, Joan Gillespie and her husband, Robert, Joyce Delaney and Juliann Robarge and her husband, John all of Wilmington; loving “Nanny” of 22 grandchildren including the late Jianna Caiazzo and 20 great-grandchildren. She was the cherished daughter of the late Angelo and Michelina Cafasso, dear sister of Carmine Cafasso of East Boston and the late Angelo Cafasso.

Clark ‘Poofy’ Heighton, Jr.

Winthrop Auxiliary Police Deputy Chief

Clark I. “Poofy” Heighton, Jr. of Winthrop died at home after a courageous battle with cancer on September 22 surrounded by his family and friends. He was 68 years old.

He retired in 2007 as a maintenance worker in the hotel industry. He rose to the rank of Deputy Chief in the Winthrop Auxiliary Police Dept. providing more than 35 years of volunteerism to the Town of Winthrop.

The husband of 33 years of Mary Lou (Riley) Heighton, he was born June 21, 1943 in Boston, the son of the late Clark I. and Lillian (VanBuskirk) Heighton Sr. He was the devoted father of Clark Lloyd Heighton of Winthrop, Brenda Poirier and her husband, John of Everett, Michelle Hall and her husband, Chris of Winthrop, and Melonie Nelson and her husband, Peter of Everett; dear sister to Sheila DeNicola and her husband, Robert of Revere; adored “Bumpy” of Joseph, Kaitlyn and Robert Poirier, Sarah and Jessica Nelson, Willow Hall, and the late Krystyl Poirier. He was the great-grandfather of Jayden Bagley and “Daddy” to his cat, Datzie.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Thursday, September 29 at 10:30 a.m. Following the Service, a Funeral Procession will proceed to the Winthrop Landing for a brief moment of silence in memory of Poofy. Of Peabody, formerly of Everett

Inez J. (Manganiello) Magno of Peabody, formerly of Everett, died on September 25. She was 89 years old.

She was the wife of the late Marino Magno; mother of the late Patricia A. Martini; daughter of the late Herman and Louise (Lambaise) Manganiello; dear mother-in-law of Richard A. Martini of Peabody; sister of the late Robert Manganiello; sister-in-law of James Magno and his wife, Joanne of Everett and is also lovingly survived by two grandchildren, David and Kate Martini, both of Peabody.

Beverly Annese of Gloucester, formerly of Everett and West Roxbury, died on September 24.

She was the loving daughter of Josephine Annese and her late father, Michael; beloved sister of Patricia Forgione and her husband, Albert of Lynnfield, and Michael Annese Jr. of Everett. She is survived by her nephew Steven Forgione and his wife, Lynne, and a niece Charlene Conway and her husband, Michael, as well as great nephews, Michael Conway and Nicholas, Matthew, and Jake Forgione and her life long friend Joyce Barisano.

Frederick MacKay

Active in Everett City Government

Frederick T. MacKay of Everett died on September 19 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 77 years old.

He retired from Exxon Corporation after 32 years of service and was a former member of Everett Board of Appeals, Fire Commissioner, Chairman of the Board of Public Works in Everett, member of St. Therese St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a US Army veteran. An outstanding husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was the beloved husband of Lorraine (Middleton) MacKay; devoted father of Frederick and his wife, Jean of Stoneham, Kevin and his wife, Maureen of Princeton, NJ, and David and his wife, Catherine of Exeter, NH; adored grandfather of Paige, Kayla, Kyle, Shannon, Conor, Kaitlin, Tara, Megan, and Ryan; loving brother of Charlotte Byrne and her late husband, Robert, Robert and his wife, Phyllis, Dorothy and her husband, Dave Singleton, John and his wife, Ann, and Joseph and his wife, Elaine and a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews .

Dennis P. Dickson of Saugus, formerly of Chelsea, died on September 22.

He was the beloved husband of Katherine (Griffin) Dickson; loving father of Jennifer Ricciardi and her husband, Frank of Lynnfield, PJ Dickson and his wife, Carrie of Peabody and Amy Dickson of Everett; cherished grandfather of Matthew and Emma; dear son of Lloyd Dickson of Saugus and the late Pauline (Buckley) Dickson; brother of Donna Brown of Colorado and Paula Ouimette of New Hampshire.

Ruth Maher

Everett resident 

Ruth K. (Kirkpatrick) Maher of Everett, formerly of Somerville and Arkansas, died on September 22 at the Golden Living Center-Dexter House, Malden.  She was 80 years old.

A homemaker, born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the wife of the late Edward J. Maher; dear and devoted mother of Douglas J. Scott, Jr. and his wife, Lisa Montague of Everett, Edith M. Scott and her husband, Randy Scott of Arkansas; step-mother of Thomas E. Maher and Edward Maher of New York, Ann Nemeth of Florida, and Judy Dunham of Vermont; sister of Bruce Kirkpatrick of North Carolina and the late Dr. John Kirkpatrick.  She is also survived by several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Parkinsons Disease Foundation, 720 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 022115 would be sincerely appreciated.  Arrangements are by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett.

Rose Giannelli

Mother of Everett Councilman 

Rose (Caiazzo) Giannelli of Everett died on September 18.

She was the beloved wife of the late Carlo “Ike” and loving mother of Everett Councilman Kenneth Giannelli and his fiancée, Lisa Federico of Everett, Maureen Faretra and her companion, Michael Scola of Melrose and Carl Giannelli and his wife, Susan of Everett; beloved sister of Mary Rodriquez of Everett, Frank Caiazzo and his wife, Jeanette of New Hampshire and the late Thomas, Sam, Peter and George Caiazzo and Netta Masiello. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren; Brian, Keith and Sharon Giannelli and Joel and Kenneth Faretra; and six loving great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, Everett.

Burial was at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody. The family has special thanks for the Melrose Wakefield Hospital Cardiac Unit and the Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center, Edgewood Unit.

Phyllis Cataldo

Brockton resident

Phyllis B. (Luongo) Cataldo of Brockton died September 20 at Boston Medical Center, Boston surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife for 57 years to the late Anthony J. Cataldo and is survived by her three children Elena Cadman and her husband, Gary of Norwell, Anthony Cataldo, Jr. of Lakeville and Robert Cataldo and his wife, Karen of Attleboro. She was the grandmother of James and Steven Cataldo and twin sister of Bunny Sclafani of Everett and the late Joseph Luongo. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.

John Giggie

Of Belmont, formerly of Everett

John A. Giggie of Belmont, formerly of Everett, died on September 19.

A US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, he was a graduate of the BU School of Engineering, a proud member of the Belmont Lions Club and an active parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church.

He was the beloved husband of Irene M. (Driscoll); father of Dr. John M. and his wife, Dr. Marisa of Tuscaloosa, AL, Ellen M. Hurley and her husband, Jim of Acton, Jules Giggie and her husband, Gregg Fowler of Belmont, and Michael P. and his wife, Joy of Brentwood, TN; loving Papa of Julia, Alexandra, Christian, Tim, Megan, Caitlin, Kyle, Olivia and Louisa; brother of Richard of Revere and Ed of Fairport, NY. He is also survived by a loving extended family and numerous dear friends.

Michael ‘Capt. Buzz’ Hegarty

Michael J. “Capt. Buzz” Hegarty of Saugus, formerly of Winthrop , Everett and Revere, died on September 16 at Tufts Medical Center, Boston. He was 53 years old.

Born in Winthrop and a roofer by trade, he was the beloved husband of Maryann (Walczak); son of the late John and Ruth (Liston) Hegarty; dear brother of John Hegarty of Randolph, Kathleen Walsh of Winthrop and Maureen Alikonis of Tewksbury; brother-in-law of Valentine Walczak and his wife, Lisa of Saugus and Larry Walsh of Winthrop.  He is also survived by several loving aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Stephen A. D’Italia of Beverly died on September 21, He was 56 years old.

The beloved husband of Toni (Casey) D’Italia of Beverly, he was the brother of Lenny D’Italia of Wellfleet and Marie D’Italia of Salem, brother-in-law of Kevin Millet of Wellfleet and is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
