Sophie Giordano

Everett resident

Sophie (DiNuccio) Giordano, a lifelong resident of Everett, died on June 12. She was 91 years old.

She was the wife of the late Carmen Giordano; mother of the late Thomas S. Giordano; dear sister of Anthony DiNuccio of Everett; daughter of the late Giacomo and Maria (DiFilippo) DiNuccio and mother-in-law of Barbara A. Giordano of Newburyport.  She is also lovingly survived by three grandchildren, Lauren M. Giordano, Thomas C. Giordano, both of Newburyport and Lisa M. Giordano of N. Andover and one great-granddaughter, Brooke McCauliffe of N. Andover.

Funeral services will be conducted in the William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals, 389 Washington Ave., Chelsea on today, Wednesday, June 15 at 11 a.m.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.  A visiting hour will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

John Moreschi Jr.

Of Malden, formerly of Everett

John A. Moreschi, Jr. of Malden, formerly of Everett, died on June 12.

A US Army veteran of the Korean War and a  member of Local 21 Laborers Union, he was the beloved husband of Anna (Centrella) of 57 years; father of Estelle, Joanne, John W. and his wife, Cheryl, Patricia A. Powers and her husband, Craig, and Maria G., all of Malden; son of the late John and Esther; brother of James “Chickie” of Kentucky and Phyllis Harper of Everett and is also survived by five grandchildren: John A. II, Christina M. and Anthony J. Moreschi, and Craig S. and Anna R. Powers, and the late Michael Moreschi, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

His Funeral will be held from the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Everett, Thursday, June 16 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church, Everett at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are today, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Everett resident

Charlotte E. (Brown) Hooker of Everett died on June 10. She was 68 years old.

She was the beloved wife of Walter Hooker; loving mother of David Charles Hooker and his wife, Diana, of Hudson, NH; loved sister of Rita Juliano and her husband, Arthur, and Diane Ciulla and her husband, Thomas, all of Everett; cherished grandmother of Stephanie Greenslade of Hudson, NH.

John Gaff

Owned General Edwards Inn, Revere

John “Jack” Gaff of Largo, Florida died on June 9. He was 80 years old.

Born in Boston, he moved to Largo from Everett in 2004. Before retirement, he worked for Warren Pipe and Foundry, Everett and was the proprietor of General Edwards Inn, Revere. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Knights of Columbus and V.F.W. of Everett. He loved gardening and playing cribbage.

He was the brother of the late Harold Gaff and is survived by his wife, Joan; sons, John W. and his wife, Deborah, of Lynnfield, Joseph and his wife, Nanci, of Everett and daughters, Patricia Neff of Las Vegas, NV and Paula Nestor and Bob Lavallee of Nestor, Hampstead, NH; his brothers and sister, Thomas Gaff and his wife, Mary Jo of Laconia, NH, Jerome Gaff of Hampstead, NH and Loretta Lynch and her husband, Frankie, of Hampstead, NH; his sister in law, Jean Gaff of Revere; his grandchildren, Jason, Gaff, Jared Neff, Kris Gaff, Cory Gaff, Heidi Nestor, Kyleigh Gaff and TJ Gaff.

Marie King

Retired Whidden Hospital Nurse’s Aide

Marie (Whalen) King of Everett, formerly of Newfoundland, died on June 9. She was 92 years old.

A retired nurse’s aide who worked at the Whidden Hospital for 35 years, she returned home to Newfoundland every summer since 1962. She was a member of the Sea Breeze Senior Club in Newfoundland during her summers there.

The wife of the late Clifford “Cliff” King, she was the beloved mother of Carl King and Iris Ulm, both of Everett; dear sister of Louisa Delaney of Newfoundland and the late Herbert Whalen, Ormond Whalen, Myrtle Fraser, Madeline Bulger and Bernadette Whalen; aunt of Florence Fraser of Everett and is also lovingly survived by three grandchildren, Wayne Ulm of Maine, Dawn Ulm of Virginia and Deborah Doria of Pennsylvania; three great-grandchildren, Briana Ulm of Everett, Adrian Ulm of Virginia and Chris Kirmes of Everett; two step great-grandchildren, Anthony and Nichols Doria of Pennsylvania and many nieces and nephews in Newfoundland.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the William R. Carafa & Son Home For Funerals, Chelsea. Burial will be at a later date in the United Church Cemetery at Broad Cove, Newfoundland. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Irene Lepere

New Hampshire resident

Irene M. (Pare) Lepere of Amherst, NH, formerly of Melrose and Stuart, Florida died on June 7.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francis X. Lepere; loving mother of Edward Lepere and his wife, Julie, of Las Vegas, Paul Lepere and his wife, Gail, of Seabrook, NH, Gene Lepere and his wife, Denise, of Everett, Kenneth Lepere and his wife, Brenda, of Arizona, Mary Carlson and her husband, Mark, of Amherst, NH and the late Frances Lepere; caring sister of Joan Martens and Albert Pare and the late Paul, Gilbert, Norman, Richard and Arthur Pare. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Felix ‘Junior’ Luciano

Felix J. “Junior” Luciano of Everett died on June 7.

He was the beloved husband of Mary (Trentini) and loving father of Lucille Keefe and her husband, Leo, of Tewksbury, and Christine Mooney and her husband, Kenneth, of Reading; loving brother of Mary Lou Signoriello and Millie Fiore, the late Frank Luciano and Martha DeMartino. He is survived by four loving grandchildren Kiara, Leo Jr., Delia and Courtney as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

She was the beloved wife of the late Gaetano; devoted mother of Mary, Linda Rines and her husband, William, John and his wife, Nancy, and Guy and his wife, Linda; sister of Alexander Avola; cherished grandmother of Adam Rines and his wife, Andrea, Melanie Rines, William Rines, Danielle Grassi and Christopher Grassi.

Alma M. (Ahlin) Sheehan of Lynnfield, a former longtime Everett resident, died on June 5. She was 78 years old.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert “Bob” Sheehan; loving mother of Kathryn Albertian of Tewksbury, Bobby of Boston, Matthew of Newton, NH, Marianne Shauan and Jayne Falzone, both of Lynnfield; loving sister of Kenneth Ahlin of Melrose, Joan Lang and her husband, James, who was a very special “brother” in law, the late Bill, Donald, Harold, and Walter Ahlin; cherished Nana of Jamie, Jackie, Jessica, Lindsey, Haylee, Jake, and John; cherished Great Nana of Maquire and Jevon. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joseph Gurli

US Postal Service retiree, Past Grand Knight, K of C and Past President OLG Socialites

Joseph A. Gurli of Chelsea died on June 6. He was 92 years old.

A US Army veteram of World War II, he was a Sergeant in the 9th Div. – 34th Field Artillery having served in the Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Northern France, Normandy, Sicily and Tunisia.  He was a retired postal clerk who worked for the US Postal Service for 30 years and was Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Wilmington Post 4982 and  Past President of the OLG Socialites.

He was the beloved husband for 65 years of Margaret (Marino) Gurli; dear brother of Geraldine Yacoangelo, Anthony Gurliaccio, Eleanor Gurliccio, all of N. Reading and the late Michael Gurliaccio and Catherine Ciancio; son of the late Lazzaro and Giuseppina (DeMeo) Gurliaccio and is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary Jarvis

Saugus resident

Mary (Parziale) Jarvis of Saugus died on June 7.

Born and raised in Everett, she was the mother of  John E. of Melrose and Donna M. Coule of Lynn; sister of Vincent Parziale of Kingston, Andrew Parziale of Brookline and the late Joseph Parziale, Pasquale Parziale and Gilda Parziale.  She is also survived by two grandchildren,  Laura M. Coule and Michael J. Coule.
