Senior Co-Captain Dexter Dowe won the shot put and the discus to pace the Everett High boys track team in their season opening meet with Somerville last week.
Dexter won the shot with a toss of 44-11.5, which also qualified him for the spring Division 1 State Championships, and took the discus with a twirl of 109-8.
Senior co-Captain Peter Duperier also enjoyed a fine meet, placing second in the 400 meter run in 52.0 and third in the 200 meter dash in 23.4. Both times qualified Peter for the State Meet. He also placed third in the long jump with an effort of 19-0.
Other point scorers for the Crimson Tide were Trevor Freeman with a third in the hurdles in 84.1; senior co-Captain Ricky Perez with a third in the two mile run 11:38.6 and a third in the 100 hurdles in 20.9; Jonathan Mendez with a third in the 800 meters in 2:25.5; Senior Co-Captain Domenic Mucci with a second in the triple jump in 37-1; Chavannes Valbrune with a third in the high jump with a leap of at 5-0; and Daniel Plunkett with a second in the javelin with a toss of 121-3.
The 4x100m relay team of Soufiane Fdal, Henry Maldonado, Mucci, and Andres Tejada placed first in a time of 49.4.
“Dan Plunkett had a great throw in the javelin and Dom Mucci had a great triple jump for the first meet,” said EHS head coach Shelanda Irish. added the coach.
The boys track team travels to Malden tomorrow (Thursday) for a meet at 3:45.
