Since 72-year old Carol Whyte was found dead in a pool of blood in the kitchen of her 98 Lynn Street home two weeks ago, aState Police investigators, Everett police and the office of Middlesex District Attorney Gerard Leone launched into an intensive investigation into the circumstances of her death.
The DA’s office ruled her death a homicide after determining she had been attacked.
Witnesses interviewed at the scene apparently provided very little to investigators, according to a source close to the investigation.
What is not known is whether or not investigators found DNA evidence at the scene, and if they did, whether or not that DNA has led them to a suspect or suspects who might have committed the crime.
Neighbors said Mrs. Whyte was feisty and contentious – difficult as a person.
Efforts to have the DA’s office explain what it has been doing were referred to the DA’s press office.
A spokesperson for the DA said the investigation was ongoing.
She also said that no further information was available.
