Sashae Walls and Maeve Kernan both won two events for the Everett High girls track team in their meet last week against Lynn Classical.
Sashae captured the 400 meter low hurdles and the high jump, while Maeve was a winner in both the mile and two mile runs. Sashae also added a second place finish in the 400 meter run to give her 13 points on the day.
Other first place finishers for the Lady Crimson Tide were Daryl Colson in the discus, Delmis Urquiza in the 800, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Naeva Richemond, Urquiza, Serina Welch, and Katie Steeves.
Adding three points to the Everett score sheet with second place finishes were Colson in the 100 meter high hurdles, Guerdie Valmont in the 100 meter dash, Jessica Mangan in the mile, Brenda Sant Ana in the 800, and Steeves in the long jump and 200 meter dash.
Third place efforts were turned in by Melissa Michel in the two mile, Welch in the 200 dash, and Valmont in the 400 meter run and long jump.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to score in the triple jump, shot put or javelin,” said EHS head coach Shelanda Irish. “That is 27 points right there in those three events and we lost by 15 points (75-60). Those are events that overall, we haven’t been strong in. With that said, I think all of our girls were placed in the right event and everyone scored where they were supposed to score. It just wasn’t enough to come up with a win.”
The EHS girls will be back on the track today (Wednesday) against Cambridge.
