Everett resident José Miguel Arellano Valdés, age 38, is in need of a kidney due to stage 4 kidney failure from an autoimmune disease onset by COVID-19.
Arellano Valdés and his wife Erika have lived in Everett for more than two decades and share a four year old son named Miguel Ángel. Before becoming ill, he worked as a full time welder to support his family. He is currently undergoing peritoneal dialysis for several hours daily and is on the kidney transplant list at Mass General Hospital.
Arellano Valdés needs a donor with O negative blood, but if a person who is eligible to donate is not a match, there is a kidney swap program through Mass General Hospital which would aid him in getting the kidney he needs.
The Kidney Transplant Evaluation Program is located in Chelsea, MA at Massachusetts General Hospital, 100 Everett Avenue Chelsea, MA.
