Beginning, Tuesday, May 19, For Kids Only Afterschool (FKO) began providing the City of Everett with snack packs to be distributed to children in need in the City of Everett.
“I want to thank the For Kids Only Afterschool Program for their generosity. This is a challenging time for many families, and it is reassuring to see organizations stepping up to the challenges facing us to make sure kids and those facing hunger are fed,” Mayor Carlo DeMaria said.
FKO will provide the Eliot Family Resources Center with 1,000 snack packs to be distributed to children in need who are living in the City of Everett, ages 1-18; and 600 snack packs to LUMA.
Employees of the afterschool program will be putting together the snack packs for the children starting on Monday, May 18, at their Youth in Motion facility in Revere.
“FKO is incredibly proud to support the tireless efforts of the City of Everett and our dedicated community partners by contributing nutritious snacks to complement their existing meal distribution.” says FKO Executive Director Deborah Kneeland Keegan. “We are grateful to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the federal Child and Adult Care Food Program for allowing FKO to open our food contract to support our essential food providers in the city.”
Each snack pack contains enough USDA-approved snacks for 7 days, half of the snacks are fruits and the other half will range from granola bars, graham crackers, milk and yogurt.
