Arrest Made in Main St. Robbery and Shooting

The Everett Police Department announced an arrest has been made in connection with the attempted armed robbery and shooting of a store clerk at the Neighborhood Convenience Store on February 17, 2014. Following the attempted robbery and shooting, Everett Police Detectives released a photograph taken on surveillance video of one of two suspects in the armed robbery. After receiving numerous tips following the release of the photo, Everett Police Detectives were able to identify a suspect, Gary Greene and sought a warrant for his arrest.

Everett Police and the State Police Violent Fugitive Unit continued to receive information about the whereabouts of Mr. Greene and were actively searching for him at numerous locations across the Commonwealth.

Information was received that Gary Greene was staying at a residence in Swampscott. Everett Police Detectives, Swampscott Police and the North Metro SWAT Unit responded to an address in Swampscott and arrested Gary Greene without incident.

Chief Steven A. Mazzie praised the efforts of Everett, Swampscott and North Metro Swat units to place Gary Greene under arrest. “Due to the coordinated effort of the law enforcement agencies involved, we have taken a violent fugitive off our city streets and will continue to work to apprehend the second suspect in this crime. Making our city streets and businesses safe for all members of the community is a top priority for the men and women of the Everett Police Department.”

Gary Greene, age 52, was arraigned in Malden District Court on a warrant on Monday March 3, 2014 charging him with Armed Assault with Intent to Rob Victim, Aggravated Assault & Battery with Serious Bodily Injury and Unlawful Use of a Firearm.

All charges against Gary Greene are allegations and the suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
