Everett Tide Loses to BC High, 28-7

When Everett High quarterback Tyler Freni rushed into the end zone for a game-tying touchdown in the first quarter, fans were no doubt expecting a Big-10-caliber ground battle between two strong Division 1 programs.

That feeling continued through halftime, but the visiting Eagles then took control of the game on the ground and raced to a 28-7 victory over Everett Thursday night before a large crowd at Everett Veterans Memorial Stadium.

Noah Federico was the chief catalyst for BC High with 111 yards and three touchdowns.

“After we scored the first touchdown and then when we went into the half down 14-7 and receiving the opening kickoff of the second half, we felt very confident as a team, but sadly things didn’t go our way in the second half,” said Everett head coach Rob DiLoreto.

DiLoreto credited Tyler Freni and Jamauri Dulin for some “tough, hard runs” in what was a solid rushing performance by the Everett offense.

“We felt we ran the ball well, but obviously we have a long way to go in all three phases of the game,” said DiLoreto. “We’re hard at work putting an improvement plan in place. I’m very proud of this team. I really believe in this team, and I think we’re working hard and we are improving. I’m hoping that this week, our performance matches our effort level.”

Everett (2-2) plays at Taunton High School (2-1) Friday night.

“Taunton is big, fast, and physical, and we know that this is another top-notch D-1 opponent,” said DiLoreto.
