Boys Soccer Impressive in Pre-Season Scrimmages As Fall Sports Get Underway

After a pre-season of dry and near-perfect weather, Mother Nature pulled a cruel trick on area high school athletes with a steady menu of rain for the first week of the 2022 fall athletic season.

But despite the inclement weather, Everett High athletes are set to get their seasons underway this week.

The Crimson Tide once again will be competing in the eight-school Greater Boston League with fellow members Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Somerville, Lynn Classical, and Lynn English.

The EHS boys soccer team, under the direction of Pedro Blas, is scheduled to open its season this Friday against  Medford.

The Crimson Tide have been impressive in the pre-season and are geared-up for the regular season to get underway.

“We played Danvers last Tuesday and won 6-2 and Northeast Regional on Thursday and won 8-2,” said Blas. “Our bench players showed up big in both games

“The team is looking pretty good,” Blas added. “We still need a little bit more chemistry and for a few role players to feel comfortable in their new positions. But I like where the team is heading. We’ll be ready for Medford this Friday.”

Blas and his crew will entertain Malden next Tuesday.

The Everett High girls soccer team, under the direction of  new head coach Domenick Persuitte, is set to open its season tomorrow (Thursday) at Medford and will trek to Malden next Tuesday.

Coach Jen Spayne and the girls volleyball team will get their season rolling when they travel to Medford today (Wednesday). They will trek to Salem on Friday and to Malden next Monday. They will host Chelsea next Wednesday.

The EHS golfers, headed by coach Steve Gallagher, will get into the swing this Monday at the Stoneham Oaks course.
