A mason working on the Wynn Boston Harbor project fell down a garage elevator shaft on Tuesday morning, Jan. 2, and suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
It was the first significant accident on the site after more than 2 million labor hours spanning more than 18 months and involving more than 1,000 workers a day on the site.
The mason, in his early 30s, was working for a subcontractor when he fell down a garage elevator shaft at approximately 7:10 a.m., approximately 10 to 15 minutes after showing up for his shift. The worker was conscious the entire time and was brought by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital. He suffered several injuries, including a broken hip, broken bones in his face, and arm and face lacerations. Thankfully, his injuries were not considered life threatening.
Out of respect for the worker, Wynn Boston Harbor did not disclose the man’s name.
