Next Wednesday night, July 13, Mayor Carlo DeMaria will be holding a public meeting at the Edward Connelly Center starting at 5 p.m. on the progress to-date and a timeline for future construction at the Wynn Everett site.
Residents are encouraged to attend this important meeting.
During the last few months, some have wondered if the resort owners will ever get the green light from the courts and state agencies to start construction of the resort.
Quite frankly, one should question why personal agendas, such as the one by Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone, are delaying the start of this project. As one drives by the site while traveling over the Alford Street Bridge, everything seems to be unchanged. However, this is far from the truth as much of the preliminary work like site cleanup has been done.
This development is perhaps the largest single private project in Everett’s history. The effects from having this resort will bring not only much needed monetary aid to allow Everett to compete with much wealthier communities like Weston or Wellesley in providing services to its residents, but the open space to the Mystic River that will be created can be enjoyed by all the residents for years to come.
Mayor DeMaria has brought his dream of a casino resort to reality. On July 13, residents can see and help support this project and make it a true gem for Everett.
