Election Day, November 8 is less than a week away and while many consider this a quiet election for Everett, there is a very active Mayor’s race between Councilor Peter Napolitano and current Mayor Carlo DeMaria as well as the possible adoption of a new city charter.
Both candidates for Mayor are taking nothing for granted and planning an intensive week of work to reach as many voters as possible.
Also, the vote on the proposed City Charter has also drawn a heated campaign between those favoring it or not.
City Clerk Michael Matarazzo has forecasted a small turnout of about 40% or about 7,200 of eligible voters making their way to the polls to cast their ballots. Who these voters will be is the question that will determine the outcome of both the Mayor’s race and the City Charter.
