Saturday’s fourth annual Village Fest will shine a spotlight on the city’s robust brewing scene.
Monday night, the Licensing Board approved one-day permits for an impressive lineup of local brewers and businesses to serve up their beverages during the event, including Down the Road, Night Shift Brewing, Short Path Distillery, Village Bar, and Bone-Up Brewing.
While there is expected to be big business during the day, the board is strongly suggesting that the local brewers shut down for the night around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
“We as a board have said that when Village Fest is over, we want everyone to shut down for the night,” said board Chairman Phil Antonelli. “We think this good for everybody. We don’t want to see other establishments serving alcohol and keeping the party going.”
The free, all-ages event takes place from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Santilli Highway.
The entertainment at the festival will be headlined by ‘90 hitmakers Sugar Ray, and other local musicians and DJs will be performing throughout the day on two stages.
Roads near the event are expected to close around 11 a.m.
