Carmela (Saporito) LoGrasso of Everett, formerly of South Boston and the North End, died on October 14.
She was the beloved wife of Gaetano Lo Grasso ith whom she shared 41 years of marriage; loving mother of Rocco LoGrasso and his wife, Marllina of Revere and Francesca Santostefano and her husband, Joseph of Middleton; dear sister of the late Salvatore Saporito and his wife, Antonietta of Somerville and their children; cherished grandmother of Sofia LoGrasso and Michael and Gaetano Santostefano.

Albert J. “Merchie” Merchant of Everett died on October 12.

Gerald J. Porter of Saugus, formerly of Everett, died on October 12 at the Epoch of Melrose Nursing Center. He was 77 years old.
A US Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired machinist from the R and D Machine Shop, he was the beloved husband of Joan A. (Sperlinga); dear and devoted father of Amberlynn Porter; brother of Roy Porter of Lowell, Carol Parent of Florida and the late Patricia Doherty.

Ersilia “Sadie” (Lombardi) Lynch of Everett died on October 7 at age 105.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ephraim; loving mother of the late Charles Giovino who is survived by his companion, Gladys Bachelder and her family and Irene Internoscia; brother of the late Pauline Venutti and the late Al, Antoinette and Charles Lombardi. She is also survived by six loving grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two late grandchildren

Retired Mechanical Engineer
Charles Semple of Everett died on October 6. He was 83 years old.
A US Army veteran and a retired mechanical engineer at Watertown Arsenal, he was the beloved husband of Rose and is also survived by a nephew John Guard and his wife, Jessica of Danvers, as well as a great niece, Toni Guard of Danvers.

Ann M. (Flaherty) Hensey of Chelsea died on August 9. She was 71 years old.
Raised in Arlington and a long time resident of Chelsea, she was the mother of Joseph Hensey of Haverhill, Annette Castro of Providence, R.I., Michelle Hensey of Revere and the late Jeanine, Michael and Patrick Hensey and is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren who she loved dearly. She leaves her family and many friends who mourn her loss.
A Memorial Service was held in St. Lukes Church, Chelsea. Arrangements were entrusted to the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home, Everett.

Adaline E. (Rockwood) Higgins of Lexington, formerly of Everett, died on October 8.
A longtime member of The Women of the Moose, Everett/Revere Chapter, she was the beloved wife of the late Edward Higgins and Peter Doukakis; mother of Katherine Facenda and her husband, Stephen of Billerica and the late Peter Doukakis Jr.; grandmother of Lynette and Debra Facenda; stepmother of Edward, Paul, Mary, Rita, Deborah and the late Kenneth and longtime companion of the late Walter Russ.

Jean Zackular
Retired State Social Worker
Jean (Fitzgerald) Zackular of Hull, formerly of Everett, died peacefully at a local nursing home surrounded by her family on October 9.
Jean was born on December 29, 1930 in Everett, one of five children of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Fitzgerald. She was raised in Everett and graduated from Everett High School Class of 1947. She was a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and retired in 1995.
In addition to working as a social worker, she raised seven children and was a very devoted mother. She also loved to travel, she loved the beach and she loved playing cards. But the most important part of her life was her children and grandchildren.
She was the former wife of the late Arthur Zackular and dear friend and companion of Howard MacRae; the devoted mother of Donna Sordillo and her husband, Arthur, Joseph, Jeanne Christiano and her husband, John all of Everett, Jill Gioioso and her husband, Daniel of Saugus, Jay and his wife, Joy of North Reading and the late Jack and Artie Zackular; the sister of Edward of Brockton, and the late Alice Barry, Arthur and Leona Fritzgerald. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren.

Brien Welsh
Truck Driver
Brien J. Welsh, of Everett and a former longtime Chelsea resident, passed away unexpectedly on October 8 following a short illness. He was 42 years old.
Born in Everett, the son of Edward and Julia (Gordon) Welsh, he was raised in Chelsea, attended St. Stanislaus Parochial School and was a graduate of Northeast Regional Vocational High School. He worked as a professional truck driver for Mainfreight in Chelsea.
A resident of Chelsea for almost all of his life, he was currently residing in Everett. A caring father and stepfather, he loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hockey and muscle cars.
He was the beloved longtime companion of Kelley Baldasaro of Everett; devoted father and stepfather of Briana and Caitlin and grandfather of Vinny; loving son of Edward Welsh of Everett and the late Julia A. (Gordon); dear brother of Coleen Kingsley and her husband, Doug of Pelham, NH; cherished grandson of Mary Orluk of Chelsea and the late Frank Orluk and adored uncle of David and his wife, Ashlee, Dustin and Shea.
