Last week, the Massachusetts Legislature passed the Fiscal Years 2011 and 2012 Supplemental Appropriations bill, which allowed for approximately $422,506 in additional local aid funding for Everett.
“This is great news for Everett,” said Senator Sal DiDomenico. “These funds can be used by the City to address any unmet needs brought on by budget cuts and by the tough economy.”
“These monies will help our city to cope with the tough economic times that our community is in” said, Representative Smith.
This funding is the result of a provision included in this year’s state budget that would allow half of the state’s reversions, up to a maximum of $65 million, to be distributed to communities using a lottery formula. It is anticipated that funding will be available by the end of October.
