Sean Hogan was sworn in as a lieutenant in the Everett Fire Department Monday night in the Council Chamber.

City Clerk Sergio Cornelio administered the oath of office to Hogan, who will begin his 29th year in the department on Aug. 10.

Hogan, 54, grew up on Irving Street and is a 1990 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in graphic design at UMass/Dartmouth and owns a business called 1st-In-Grafix, which does boat lettering, truck lettering, and logo design.

Sean is the son of Eileen Hogan and the late Richard “Dick” Hogan, who passed away in 2021.

Sean and his wife, Dawn Marie, have three children, Jake, Kyle, and Paige, who all looked on proudly as their father took his oath of office.

Sean set a great example for his younger brother, Scott, who is a 20-year Everett firefighter and a former athletic trainer at Winthrop High School.

“I’m so proud of him,” said Scott. “It takes a lot of hard work to be a lieutenant, and he did a great job. He deserves it.”

Deputy Chief Craig Hyde was among the many professional colleagues in the department showing their support at the swearing-in ceremony.

“I got on the department with Sean in 1998,” recalled Hyde. “We got hired with ten members, and there are only eight left, and all eight of us are now officers in the Everett Fire Department. This finishes it off. Sean is a good man.”
