On Wednesday, September 23, retired Everett Police officers joined current officers for the annual Police Retiree Luncheon hosted by the Everett Police Department.
More than 50 retired and current officers gathered at Anthony’s of Malden for an afternoon of catching up with old friends, enjoying Italian cuisine and reminiscing about their time with the department.
Mayor Robert J. Van Campen and Police Chief Paul Strong attended the luncheon to honor the retired officers and thank them for their years of service to the Everett community.
“Our former Everett Police Officers have sacrificed so much over the years, and it’s only right that we honor and celebrate them,” said Mayor Robert J. Van Campen. “A career in law enforcement requires an incredible commitment to the community, and this luncheon is an opportunity to simply say thank you. We are incredibly grateful for their years of service and for the role they continue to play in mentoring and inspiring the next generation of Everett Police.”
“These retired officers helped shape the Everett Police Department and paved the way for the officers serving our community today,” said Police Chief Paul Strong. “Retiring from a career in law enforcement is a tremendous accomplishment and one that deserves to be celebrated. This luncheon gives us a chance to recognize that service while keeping our bond with our retired officers strong. For me, one of the best parts is simply catching up with old friends, hearing what they’re doing now and staying connected to people who have given so much to this department and the Everett community.”
The annual luncheon provides an opportunity for generations of Everett Police officers to reconnect and maintain the relationships built throughout their careers. It also gives current officers the chance to recognize the retired officers whose leadership, experience and commitment helped shape the department.
The City of Everett thanks all of its retired Everett Police officers for their dedicated public service and the current officers who joined them in celebrating their careers and continued connection to the department.
