Around Everett/Virtual

Everett: East to West Book Club, Saturday, September 19th at 2pm. The Everett Public Library (WA) and the Everett Public Libraries (MA) are excited to partner together for a coast-to-coast book club! Read the book selected by each library and attend a virtual discussion with patrons across the country. For the first meeting, we are reading The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown, chosen by the librarians of the Everett Public Library in Everett, Washington! Pick up your copy at the Parlin or Shute Memorial Library.

Parlin Adult and Teens

Gaming Club Parlin YA Room. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3pm. Join us for board games and video games at the library! Bring your own or play what we have here. For ages 12 and up.

FRED Talks Parlin Meeting Room, Tuesday, September 15th at 7pm. Give a FRED Talk at the library! Or listen to presentations from other Everett community members on their field of expertise. You never know what new piece of knowledge you could walk away with! Register online to present, or call 617-394-2300 to sign up.

Yarn Club Parlin Fresco Room. Tuesdays at 7pm. Come chit chat and stitch! Bring your crocheting, knitting, or any other yarn craft and sit and socialize with other members of the crafting community. Recommended for ages 14-109!

Watch Anime! Parlin YA Room. Wednesdays at 3pm. Come by our new Watch Anime Club in the YA Room at the Parlin Library. Vote on and watch your favorite anime with your friends! Recommended for ages 11+.

Author Event – Jenn Bouchard, Parlin Meeting Room, Wednesday, September 16th at 7pm. Jenn Bouchard presents her novel Palms on the Cape!

El Restaurante/The Restaurant, Parlin Meeting Room, Saturday, September 19th at 12:00 pm. For adults who want to practice Spanish and eat good food! Play customer or waiter and learn how to navigate a meal from making a reservation to asking for the check. Space is limited, sign up is required. Parlin Childrens

Grab n Go Crafts, Stop by the Parlin and Shute children’s rooms every Monday for a Grab and Go craft. A self directed arts and crafts program for children ages 3-8. Crafts can be taken home or crafted with a friend or caregiver at our children’s tables. No registration required, while supplies last.

Lego Club. Parlin Children’s Room. Monday, September 14th from 3-5pm. Come to the Children’s Room on Mondays for some free-building lego fun. Open to all ages. Children under 6 years old must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

Storytime and Singalong with Karen, Parlin Children’s Room. Wednesday, September 16th at 11am. Join us for a fun-filled morning of singing and storytelling with Karen! Suggested ages 0-6.

Creative Drama Class. Parlin Children’s Room. Wednesday, September 17th at 3pm.Children ages 5 – 12 will enjoy using creativity and imagination through role-playing, improvisation, and storytelling.

Tune In: Music Class at the Library! Parlin Meeting Room. Thursday, September 17th from 3-4:30pm. Join us for a fun and interactive music class where you’ll learn to read music and sing! We’ll play games, try out cool exercises, and have a great time making music together. No experience needed—just bring your voice and get ready to have fun! This program is recommended for ages 10-14. Materials for this program have been generously provided by the Friends of the Everett Public Libraries.

Story Time Adventures with Mrs. McAuliffe Parlin Craft Room. Fridays at 11:00 am. Join us on Fridays for our enchanting Story Time! You will be whisked away on magical adventures through the pages of your favorite books. Get your wiggles out after the story with singing and stretches. Build a simple craft. Bring a friend or make a new one in our circle of friends. Recommended for children ages 5 and under.

AI Meets Lego: Build Code and Innovate, Parlin Meeting Room Saturday, September 19th from 2:30 – 3:30. Learn how to build robots, program them, and bring them to life! Using LEGO WeDo 1.0, students will explore basic robotics and coding while making their robots move, respond, and perform different tasks. A fun, creative way to learn building, engineering, and programming through play! Recommended for children ages 5 and up. Registration required.

Spirals Circuits and Lights, Parlin Meeting Room Saturday, September 19th from 3:30 – 4:30. Combine art, science, and electronics to create beautiful spiral graph designs and light-up cards. Using Chibitronics materials, students will learn the basics of paper circuits, connecting copper tape and LED lights to bring their artwork to life! Recommended for children ages 5 and up. Registration required.

Shute Adult and Teens

Ready Player One Games, Shute Meeting Room, Wednesdays at 2:30 PM. Level up your Wednesdays with our ultimate gaming hangout! Grab your friends and dive into fun Nintendo Switch and PlayStation games whether you’re racing, battling, or teaming up for co-op fun, there’s something for everyone. No registration required. Recommended for ages 11 and up. This program will run every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 PM unless otherwise noted on our online calendar.

Shute Children’s

Storytime at the Shute Shute Children’s Room. Mondays at 10 AM and Tuesdays at 12 PM. What’s better than a good story? Sharing it with friends! Join Miss Val at the Shute Library for Fairytale Fun!

Master Builders: Lego Free-play: Shute Children’s Room. Thursdays from 3-5PM. Free-play session with Legos and other building blocks. Bring a buddy, or make a new one, as you explore your imagination brick by brick! We provide the space and the materials to let your vision take shape. What will you create?

Spintronics – Stem Free-Play Join us at the Shute Memorial Library every Friday afternoon from 2:30 – 4:30 PM for a STEM-based free-play session. Try “Spintronics,” and use mechanical circuits to solve puzzles, or try “Bridge or Bust,” and see if you can build a bridge large enough to span the distance and sturdy enough to hold the weight. Both games will test (and expand) your ability to solve problems creatively. Will you rise to the challenge? For Ages 8 and up. Registration is not required.
