EHS winter sports set to get underway
The winter sports season has arrived for Everett High athletes, who are scheduled to get their 2025-26 seasons underway in the coming week.
Coach Jehu Cimea and the EHS boys and girls indoor track teams get started this Friday with a meet vs. Greater Boston League (GBL) rival Lynn English at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Roxbury.
The Crimson Tide will face all seven of their GBL foes (Lynn English, Lynn Classical, Revere, Chelsea, Medford, Malden, and Somerville) once each with all of the meets (which for the most part will be tri-meets with two GBL rivals) to be held at the Reggie. The GBL season will culminate with the league meet on February 5.
In addition, Cimea’s crew will compete in the usual invitationals and state meets throughout the season.
The EHS boys and girls basketball teams will bounce into the new season next Tuesday (December 16) with contests vs. GBL rival Malden, with the EHS boys hosting Malden for a 7:00 opening tip and the girls making the short trek to Malden.
Both Crimson Tide squads will meet their seven GBL foes (Lynn English, Lynn Classical, Revere, Chelsea, Medford, Malden, and Somerville) twice each.
Coach Gerry Boyce and his boys squad will complete their 18-game schedule vs. non-league opponents Brockton, Durfee, North (Worcester), and Beverly.
Girls’ head coach Riley Dunn’s Lady Crimson Tide will take on non-league foes Haverhill (twice), North, Lawrence, Marblehead, and Gloucesteer to round out their 20-game schedule. After their season-openers on Tuesday, both squads will meet Chelsea next Thursday, with the boys making the short trek across the Parkway and the girls playing host in the EHS gym for a 6:00 opening tip.
