Alfred Arthur Bova

Retired Everett Firefighter

Alfred Arthur Bova of Tewksbury entered into eternal rest at home, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.

Born in Everett, Al dedicated 30 years of his life as a firefighter with the City of Everett Fire Department. He also served proudly with the Massachusetts National Guard.

 Al was the beloved husband of Carolyn C. (Cate) for over 57 years. He was the dear and devoted father of Renee Bova of New Hampshire and Christopher C. Bova, Esq. and his fiance, Tarina McAndrews of Tyngsboro. Al was the dear brother of Rita V. Bova and her wife, Linda Fischer of California and the late Philip Bova and Stephen A. Bova, Jr. He was the loving Grumpy of Skye Calder, Ian Calder, Kali Calder, Quinn, Bryn and ChaseAlyn Calder and Justin Bova.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Alfred’s funeral in the Cafasso and Sons Funeral Home, Everett, today, Wednesday, October 16 at 9 a.m., followed by Funeral Mass in St. Anthony’s Church, Everett at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Parking with attendants on duty.

Shirley Moore

January 28, 1927 ~ October 8, 2024

Shirley M. (Denish) Moore, 97, filled with spirit and love, peacefully passed away surrounded by her family whom she cherished deeply.

 Born to Lawrence Denish and Marie (Green) Denish, Shirley was a devoted wife to the late Ebben Moore for 54 years, sister of Catherine Gibbons and Harold Mayo Sr. of Everett and the late Richard Mayo Sr. and Lawrence Denish Sr.

In her early years, Shirley worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company before later becoming a homemaker and raising her two children. Later in life, Shirley traveled the world with her beloved sister, Catherine Gibbons of Everett creating lasting memories and adventures. She was a proud member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Emblem Club, and the Immaculate Conception Church in Everett.

Shirley is survived by her children, Peggy Moore of Weymouth and Jim Moore and her daughter-in-law, Joan Moore of Atkinson NH. She leaves behind five grandchildren: Jenna Callahan and her husband, Kevin, Matthew Moore, Leslie Moore and her fiancé, Mathew Head, Greg Moore and Rachel Moore; Shirley also adored her two great-grandchildren, Will and Reece Callahan, as well as her grand fur-babies Oliver and Freeway (who were always on her lap). Her legacy lives on through her family and the love and laughs they shared. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Church. Services at the Salvatore Rocco Funeral Home in Everett.
