Everett High Winter Sports to Get Underway

The Everett High winter athletic season is set to kick into high gear in the coming week.

The EHS hockey team will open its 2022-23 campaign this Saturday, December 10, when the Crimson Tide trek to Lynn. They will travel to Medford next Thursday.

The Tide will engage in a full, 20-game schedule in which they will take on Greater Boston League (GBL) rivals Lynn and Somerville twice each and Medford on three occasions.

Non-league opponents include East Bridgewater, Timberlane Academy, Matignon, St. Joseph’s Prep, Taunton, Lowell, and Bedford. The Tide also will host the annual Bishop Mulloy Tourney in February at Allied Veterans Rink.

The boys and girls basketball teams swing into action next Tuesday evening (December 13) when they will meet GBL foe Revere.

Coach Stanley Chamblain’s Tide, the defending GBL champs, will trek to the Beach City, while coach Riley Dunn’s Lady Crimson Tide will host the Lady Patriots at the EHS gym at 6:00.

Both teams will meet their seven GBL foes (Revere, Chelsea, Malden, Medford, Somerville, Lynn English, and Lynn Classical) twice each.

The boys’ non-league schedule consists of two contests in the Burke High School holiday tournament; single contests with Cambridge and Central Catholic; and two more games another tournament at the end of February.

In addition, Chamblain and his crew will have a special thrill this season when they meet Beverly in the TD Garden on Saturday, January 21, at 1:30.

The girls’ non-GBL opponents are Lawrence, Malden Catholic, and Lowell, whom the Lady Crimson Tide will meet twice each to complete their 20-game schedule.

Coach Jehu Cimea once again returns as the head coach for both the boys and girls indoor track teams, who will open their dual-meet season next Wednesday (December 14) at Revere, which is the defending GBL champion.

The Tide’s dual-meet season will consist of contests against all seven of their GBL rivals every Wednesday through January 25, culminating in the league meet at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center on Friday, February 3.

Members of the team also will compete in the multitude of state invitational meets that will be held at the Reggie throughout the season.
