Everett Receives 2021 EBEE Award for Leadership

Mayor Carlo DeMaria is pleased to announce that the City of Everett received the 2021 Environmental Business Council New England, Inc. (EBC) EBEE Award for Leadership by a Non-Profit Organization.

This award was shared among 20 municipalities and other collaborators for the Resilient Mystic Collaborative project to protect their people and places from climate-intensified risks.

“I am proud that the City of Everett received this award with our partners,” said Mayor DeMaria. “Through our combined efforts, we made progress to protect our communities from the effects of climate change. I look forward to continuing our partnership to further ensure our communities’ protection.”

Within the first 18 months of formation, the Resilient Mystic Collaborative raised over $2.5 million in regional climate resilience funding for areas impacted by the Mystic River. These funds will support regional stormwater flood management, storm-hardening critical regional infrastructure, next-generation coastal flood management, and closing climate equity gaps among residents and workers based on race and income.

Members of the Resilient Mystic Collaborative project will be honored virtually at the EBC 28th Annual EBEE Awards Celebration on Thursday, June 10th. For more information and to learn how to attend, please visit https://ebcne.org/events-programs/ebee-awards-ceremony/#attend.
