  • What a stupid idea. Redevelop into senior and veterans housing? why? What this city need is a grocery store! And we have too many areas in the city being misused. We have two Walgreens within a mile of each other, taking up some of the largest spaces in the city. Then we have the old Everett High School doing absolutely nothing on Broadway. Now they want to put senior and veterans housing? If you want to make Everett a city of the future, attractive to young professionals, and the like you need a grocery store. Cities such as Cambridge, Somerville, Brookline all have good access (walking distance) to a quality grocery store, such as Trader Joe, or Whole Foods. Why do I need to drive to Chelsea, Malden, or Medford to do my shopping. I hope that seniors get housing, my brother is a veteran, he's on the City Hall wall as being a veteran who lived in Everett during his tour in Iraq, but he even says if you want to transform this city, veterans housing and senior housing ain't it.
