Former Everett High football star Lukas Denis has signed a professional contract with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Denis completed an outstanding football career at Boston College, highlighted by a breakout junior season when he was selected to the Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America Team. The 5-feet-11-inch defensive back had seven interceptions to tie for second place nationally during the 2017 season.
Denis has signed a free agent contract with the Buccaneers.
During his career at Everett High School, Denis starred as a defensive back and quarterback. He was named to the Mass. Football Coaches Association Super 26 Team.
Boston College Coach Steve Addazio praised Denis, stating that he expects him to be an impact player with the Buccaneers.
“Lukas is an extremely smart player with great ball skills,” said Addazio. “He understands the structure of the defense and puts himself in great position to make plays on the football. Lukas will be a great pro with the Buccaneers.”
Lukas is the son of Ketlie Denis and has an older brother, Dimitris.
