More than 100 lucky boys and girls received free gifts at the Everett Farmers’ Market last Wednesday,
July 6. The East Boston Neighborhood Health Center sponsored “Lids for Kids,” a free bike helmet giveaway for the first 100 children who appeared at the market. The organization also raffled off a boy’s bicycle and girl’s bicycle. Anthony Longo and Emily Hanlon each took home a shiny new bike from Target. “It’s great that kids can have a chance to get free helmets, thanks to the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. It is important that our kids prioritize safety as they ride around the city and explore our new bike path,” Mayor Carlo DeMaria said. “We had an excellent farmers’ market today, with the giveaways and the variety of healthy foods – the market is a win-win for everyone. Events like this help the Everett community bond together more.” The Everett Farmers’ Market will continue on the first and third Wednesday of each month until October. The mayor invites all Everett residents to come out and enjoy the fresh produce and homemade goods.
