Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced last week that a Middlesex County Grand Jury has indicted Sami Sherif,19, of Everett on one count of rape. An arraignment date for Sherif is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 8, in Middlesex Superior Court.
On Saturday, March 7, at approximately 6:45 a.m., a young woman was found unconscious on the driveway of a home at 32 Appleton Street in Everett. The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at approximately 7:15 a.m. At that time, her body temperature was 77 degrees and she had a blood alcohol level of .237 mg/dl.
Authorities interviewed a member of the victim’s family and several individuals who were with the victim on the evening of March 6. Detectives learned that the victim had been drinking with numerous other teenagers at a residence on Waters Avenue in Everett hours before she was found outside.
Accounts given to police indicate that an individual, later identified as Sami Sherif, left the party with the victim and then he returned back to the party alone. Sherif was arrested and booked at the Everett Police Station on Friday, March 27.
This charge is an allegation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
