Luigi DiPompo

Charter Member of Sons of Orsogno

Luigi DiPompo of Everett entered into rest on April 22 in the Bear Hill Nursing Center in Wakefield. He was 99 years old.

Born in Orsogna, Abruzzi, Italy, Luigi lived in Everett for many years and was a charter and life member of the Sons of Orsogna, Everett. He worked as a laborer in the construction trades. During World War II, Luigi served in the Italian Army.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rosina (Galante) DiPompo; dear and devoted father of Domenic DiPompo and his wife, Cheryl and Maria DiPompo, all of Wakefield; brother of Mario DiPompo and his wife, Antonietta of Revere; loving Papa of Lisa DiPompo, Lauren Pace and her husband, Michael and Great-Papa of Nicholas and Christian Pace, all of Stoneham. Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Entombment was in Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. Contributions in Luigi’s memory to the Bear Hill Nursing Center, 11 North St., Wakefield, MA 01880 would be sincerely appreciated.

Nicholas Nuzzo

Retired Auto Mechanic;

Lifelong Everett Resident

Nicholas A. Nuzzo, a life-long Everett resident, passed away suddenly at home on April 22. He was 79 years old. Nick was born on March 14, 1935 in Everett, one of two children of the late Nicholas and Frances (Whippen). He graduated from Everett Vocational High School in 1955 and worked for 35 years as a mechanic for Bob Brest Buick in Lynn. Nick’s most important job and proudest accomplishment in life, was being a husband, father and grandfather. Besides his family, he enjoyed gardening, camping, and volunteering with Bingo at a local nursing center. Nick will be missed by so many people. He will always be remembered as a strong and courageous man, but most importantly he will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and friend of his family and of all those that he met along the way. Nick was the beloved husband of the Patricia (Cray) who predeceased him a year ago. They shared 52 years of marriage. He was loving father of Nicholas A., Jr. of Everett, Steven of Georgetown and Laura and her husband, David O’Donnell of Newburyport. He was the brother of the late Frederick and grandfather of Deanna, Steven, Spencer, Erin and Madeline.Funeral Services were held on Saturday at the Murphy-O’Hara Funeral Home, Everett with Reverend Thomas Coots officiating. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Gerard Lang, Sr.

US Postal Service Retiree,

Youth Sports Volunteer and Past President of Out Post Harry Survivors

Gerard F. Lang, Sr. of Everett died on April 23. He was 82 years old.

Mr. Lang retired from the US Postal Service and was a US Army Korean War veteran. He was the past president of Out Post Harry Survivors, and an avid supporter and volunteer for Everett youth sports.

The beloved husband of Joan M. (O’Halloran) Lang, he was the loving father of Gerard Lang, Jr. of East Boston, Nancy O’Brien and her husband, Neal and William Lang, all of Peabody, Janet Liston and her husband, William of West Bridgewater and Karen Cannella and her husband, Michael of Manchester, NH; loving brother of the late Hugh, Robert, Francis Lang, and Marie Lynch. He is also survived by nine cherished grandchildren and three cherished great grandchildren.

Gertrude Hinton

Retired Everett School Dietician

Gertrude (Hodges) Hinton, a life-long Everett resident, passed away on April 23 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. She was 92 years old. Gertrude was born in Everett on October 26, 1921, one of five children of the late Issac and Florence (Davis) Hodges. She grew up in Everett, attended the Everett schools and graduated from Everett High School in 1939. Gertrude worked in the Everett Public Schools as a dietician and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Malden. She loved to sew, bowl and play bingo. Gertrude was very active in her church, The Zion Church Ministries where she volunteered with the Food Bank and was a member of the Bible Study. But above all else, Gertrude will be remembered for her love of her family and the joy they brought into her life. Gertrude was the beloved wife of the late Joseph who predeceased her in 1983. She was the loving mother of Marilyn Hinton, Charlene Hill, Cheryl Hinton and the late Paul Davis and Allen Hinton; the sister of the late Lillian Andrews, Juanita Davis, James Hodges and William Hodges and the grandmother of Krystal Ridley, Joseph Hill, Nicole Turgeon, Richard Hinton and Nicole Hinton. She is also survived by her great grandchildren: Blake Lundy, Joseph R. R. Hill and Serenity Ruoff.Her Funeral Service was held on Tuesday evening at the Zion Church Ministries, 757 Broadway, Everett. Viewing was held at the church prior to the service. Arrangements were by the Murphy-O’Hara Funeral Home of Everett. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.
