City Welcomes New Sustainability and Environmental Planner

Mayor Carlo DeMaria is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Gove as the new Sustainability and Environmental Planner for the City.

Gove joins the City with several years of experience in identifying and managing sustainability practices and projects.  He brings a working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and programs.  Most recently, Gove worked for the Environmental Protection Agency Headquarters for the Office of Water in Washington, D.C.

Gove is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he secured a Bachelor’s degree in Latin American Studies, and a graduate of Tufts University where he secured his Master’s degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning.  In his former position, Gove focused on the exposure and effects of environmental contaminants on human health and the environment.

Gove is excited about the opportunity to work with the City’s recycling programs, energy service contract, and other similar initiatives. He also looks forward to setting City-wide sustainability priorities and goals, and working cooperatively to support and provide the administration with guidance regarding the Everett Conservation Commission.  Gove will  coordinate the collection and tabulation of data and research for department reports and projects.

Gove, a native of Hallowell, Maine currently lives in Exeter, NH with his wife Marita and their daughter, Aurelia, 3 months.
