Marcus, DiFlorio McLaughlin Top Vote Getters in Ward Races

In addition to the Mayor’s primary, there were three Ward Councilor races in Wards 2, 5 and 6.

In Ward 2, Councilor Jason Marcus earned the top spot with 2.010 votes and will be challenged on the November ballot by Stephen Simonelli who earned 1,424 votes. Dennis DiBiase was eliminated from the Ward 2 council race earning 1,118 votes. There were 848 write-in and blank ballots in the Ward 2 race.

In Ward 5, Councilor Rosa DiFlorio was the top vote getter and will face former school principal Robert Sansone who garnered 1,323 votes in November. Councilor Thomas Mills III was knocked out of the race with 1,030 votes. There were 749 blanks and write-in votes in the Ward 5 race.

The closest race in the primary was in Ward 6, where Councilor Michael McLaughlin narrowly beat out Sal Sachetta, 1,708 votes to 1,567. Veteran Councilor Catherine Tomassi Hicks was eliminated from the general election, but finished close behind with 1,320 votes. There were 805 blanks and write-ins in the Ward 6 race.
