Everett Man Recognized Ahead of Enlistment

Alderman Robert Van Campen presents Cody Kidd of Everett with a citation for joining the U.S. Army, as Kidd is joined by his family to celebrate the occasion.

Everett native Cory Kidd was recognized prior to the Board of Aldermen’s meeting Monday night “for his commitment and dedication to his community and his country,” ahead of his enlistment in the U.S. Army next month.

According to Alderman Robert Van Campen who sponsored the citation for Kidd, the young Everett man is hoping to join Special Forces, upon his completion of basic training, which he begins next month.

“I wanted the folks at home to see the kind of young men that Everett is producing,” noted Van Campen during his presentation Monday night. “And, it’s not just because of good parents, lots of people have good parents, but it’s because this is a good community as well.”

Annual Human Services fundraiser set for Thursday

Mayor Carlo DeMaria’s office is reminding residents and business owners that the Annual Human Services Fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, December 13 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the 8/10 Bar & Grill at 8 Norwood Street, with all proceeds raised benefiting the programs of the Everett Human Services department.

Mayor DeMaria reminded the public Monday night, during the Aldermen’s meeting that “The money we raise through this fundraiser goes to help our seniors, our veterans and our kids.”

Donations of gift cards to local supermarkets or stores like Target are encouraged and financial donations in the form of checks can also be donated, allowing the city to provide other kinds of assistance as well.

Picture with Santa at City Hall

Mayor Carlo DeMaria has announced a Photo with Santa event to be held at City Hall on Monday, December 17 from 3 to 6 p.m..

Residents are invited to bring their children to City Hall to have their picture taken with Santa.
