Barbara J. (Fay) Layton of Everett passed away on November 25. She was 86 years old.

A former member of the Everett Garden Club, she was the beloved mother of James R. Layton and his wife, Lilly of Wilmington, Janice E. Ward and her husband, Ronald of Billerica, and Judith A. Maniff and her husband, Nathaniel of Revere; cherished grandmother of James P. Layton, Jennifer Messier and her husband, Michael, Kerri Ward and her companion, James Corkery, Kristy DiStefano and her husband, Joseph, Sarah, Jonathan, and Lauren Maniff and cherished great grandmother of Ryan and Camdyn Messier.

Lifelong Everett Resident

John F. Brown, a lifelong resident of Everett, passed away suddenly on November 24. He was 68 years old.

He was the beloved son of the late Thelma E. (Evans) Brown Callahan and her late husband Robert W. Callahan and the late Ralph F. Brown; loving father of Michael F. Brown of No. Andover, Lisa Marie Russo and her husband, Chuck of Salem, NH, Kerriann Brown, and John F. Brown,  Jr. both of Greece; loving brother of Ralph F. Rose M. “Sis” (LaCortiglia) Capone of Everett died on November 24.

The beloved wife of the late Joseph C. Capone, she was the loving mother of Robert J. Capone and his wife, Penny and the late Lois S. Capone. She is survived by her two loving grandchildren Joseph and Selena, her niece Donna Goode and Harry LaCortiglia Jr. She was the sister of the late Harry LaCortiglia and is survived by her sister in law Susan LaCortiglia.

Dolores J. “Dolly” (Myhal) Maniscalco, formerly of Revere and Chelsea, died on November 23.

The bookkeeper at Great Eastern Seafood for many years, she was the beloved wife of 59 years of Frank J. Maniscalco; devoted mother of Denise Brandano of Lynnfield and Debra Fleming of Peabody; dear mother in law of Robert Brandano; loving grandmother of  Robert Brandano of Lynnfield, Kristen Brandano of Delray Beach FL, Daniel Fleming, Brian Fleming and Marisa Fleming, all of Peabody and she also leaves four great grandchildren: Tiana, Robert, Nicholas and Ava Alyse. She was the dear sister of Thomas Myhal of Chelsea, Joyce Leach of Marblehead, Robert Myhal of Peabody and Gerald Myhal of Everett.

Ada M. (Santucci) Laurenza of Everett died on November 24.

She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel J.; loving mother of Janice M. Gauthier and her husband, Robert of Woburn, Daniel J. Laurenza Jr. and his wife, Joan of Dracut, and Robert Laurenza of Everett. She is also survived by three loving grandchildren Jonathan, Joanna and Daniel. She was the loving sister of Anthony Santucci and the late Theresa Galeotalanza and Pia Centofante.

Ethel Clarke

Of Everett

Ethel A. (Lassiter) Clarke, a lifelong resident of Everett, passed away at the Mass General Hospital on November 16. She was 70 years old.

Born on March 3, 1942, one of four children of the late Atlas and Jeanette (Day) Lassiter, she attended the Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Everett Vocational High School. Ethel was a devoted mother, grandmother, relative, friend and wife. She was a wonderful caregiver to her family and enjoyed taking pride in her home.

Mrs. Clarke is survived by her husband Winston Clarke and her children: Billy William of Boston, Heidi William Rise of Haverhill, and Benita William Stewart of Dorchester. She was the sister of David of Lowell, Paul of Melrose, and Claire Lassiter Facey of Everett. She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held on Friday at the Murphy O’Hara Funeral Home from 5 to 8pm.

Philip Langone

Retired National Guard Master Sergeant

Philip W. Langone of Everett passed away in his home on November 22. He was 79 years old.

A retired Master Sergeant in the US Army National Guard, he was the beloved husband of the late Geraldine (Barrasso) Langone; loving father of Sandra L. Langone of Saugus and Philip S. Langone and his wife, Debra of Tewksbury; loving brother of Virginia Foster of Chelmsford, Evelyn Willis of Derry, NH, and Elsa Langone of Everett; cherished grandfather of Andrew, Rachael, Emily, Rebecca, Jonathan and Erin.

Catherine G. (Belloise) Sullivan of Everett died on November 21.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph D. Sullivan of the Everett Police Dept; loving mother of Catherine Baldassarre and her husband, Ralph, Joseph D. Vincenzo  D’Addieco  of East Boston died on November 20.

Anthony DiNuccio

Retired US Postal Service Truck Driver

Anthony C. DiNuccio, a lifelong resident of Everett, died on November 22 at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital. He was 90 years old.

A US Army veteran of World War II and a retired US Postal Service Truck Driver with 30 years of service, he was the beloved husband of more than 65 years of Julia (Parziale); dear and devoted father of Linda Balzano and her husband, Leo of Nashua, NH, James A. DiNuccio and his wife, Carolann  and Maria Nazzaro and her husband, Robert of Everett.  He was predeceased by seven siblings and is also survived by nine loving grandchildren and 10 loving great-grandchildren.

Helen W. (Richards) LaFauci of Salem, NH, formerly of Malden, died unexpectedly on November 20 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was 60 years old.

The beloved wife of Richard D. LaFauci, she was the dear and devoted mother of Tracey Collopy and her husband, Mark of Rochester, NH. and Richard D. LaFauci, Jr., D.M.D. and his wife, Marie of Middleton; dear sister of Ann Moran of Everett, Joanne Pineau of Medford and the late Barbara Bickford; loving “Nani” of Christian, Shaun, Jason and Marissa Collopy and Lucas and Lucia LaFauci. William Newell, Jr.

Of Topsfield

William F. Newell, Jr. of Topsfield, formerly of Lynnfield and Peabody, died on November 20.

Born in Everett on March 31, 1931, the son of the late William F. and Mary (Hughes) Newell, Mr. Newell was raised in Everett and was a graduate of Boston College High School and Boston College. He was the Managing Director of Marsh & McLennan Company and also served as President and CEO of the Frank B. Hall Company. He was a past member of the Salem Country Club and also the Algonquin Club, an active member of Catholic Charities and served with the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.

He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. (Humphreys) Newell; loving father of Catherine M. Keenan and her husband, Michael of Middleton, Patricia J. Lobao and her husband, James of Salem and the late William F. Newell, III; loving grandfather of William R. and Kevin Newell, Katelyn and Michael Keenan, James, Samantha and  Robert Lobao and great grandfather of Parker and Reese Newell. He is also survived by his cousin, Sr. Mary Catherine Nelson, PBVM of Watervliet, NY and his long time companion Doris C. Marr of Marshfield. Grace Johnson

Retired Legal Secretary

Grace C. (Hartman) Johnson, a longtime resident of Wakefield, passed away peacefully on November 18 at Brooksby Village Renaissance Gardens in Peabody. She was 90 years old.

She was born in Malden on April 15, 1922, a daughter of the late Nicholas Hartman and Nellie (McKay) Hartman.  She was raised in Malden, graduated from Malden High School and worked as a secretary for the Kimball & Gilman Law Firm for 43 years.

She was a longtime active member of the Glendale United Methodist Church in Everett and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Everett.  She liked to stay busy with her many interests including ice skating, roller skating, travelling, knitting and crocheting.  She enjoyed going to Maine where the family had a summer camp for many years.  She also loved ballroom dancing and square-dancing with her late husband, Frank.  She was great hostess who had a gentle soul and was an exceptional cook.  She loved entertaining her friends and family and never uttered a bad word about anybody.

She was the cherished wife of the late Frank A. Johnson with whom she shared 56 years of marriage; stepmother of Christine Teague of Sanford, ME; dear sister of the late Charles, Alexander, William and Helen Hartman; beloved aunt of Rev. Charles G. Hartman and his wife, Anona of Melrose, William C. Hartman and his wife, Jeanette of North Carolina, Lee A. Woodbury of New Hampshire, William W. Hartman and his wife, Sherri of Texas, Holly Bremer and her husband, William and Brian Hartman and his wife, Rosemary, all of Oklahoma, and the late Diane O’Madigan and Bruce C. Hartman.  She was the grandmother of Kimberley Anderson, Charles Anderson, and Jeremy Teague; great grandmother of Stone K. Anderson and is also survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews, and her longtime dear friend, Priscilla Mickle of Wilmington.
