U.S. Marine Corps Corporal Richard S. Costanza was honored by the Everett Common Council and Mayor Carlo DeMaria Monday night during a brief presentation prior to the Common Council meeting.

Costanza, a 2007 Everett High School graduate who entered the Marines in 2008, was stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC during his four years of service and served one tour of duty in Afghanistan, from August 2010 to May 2011. He was home in Everett, visiting with family and said that he is scheduled to separate from military service on November 3, 2012.

“I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet, when I get out,” Costanza told the Independent. “I’m going to take it easy and think about it first.”

Joining the Mayor and Common Council in honoring Costanza for his service were Matt Laidlaw of Senator DiDomenico’s office and Everett Veterans Commissioner Joe Hickey. State Representative Stephen Smith was unable to attend, but he did forward a citation from the House of Representatives, which was presented to Costanza, along with the citations from the Mayor, Common Council and State Senator.
