Robert Crowell

Retired Everett Water Department Foreman

Robert Crowell of Cape Canaveral, Florida and Epping, New Hampshire, formerly of Everett, died at his Florida home on December 8. He was 82 years old.

He was the retired foreman with the City of Everett, Water Department, a US Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, VFW, 834, Everett and a Golden member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was born in Boston and a longtime resident Everett before moving to Epping NH in the summer and Cape Canaveral, Fl in the winter.

The beloved husband of Joan M. (Knight), he was the dear and devoted father of Linda J. Biondo and her husband, Richard of Everett; Robert P. Crowell and his wife, Barbara of Lantana, FL; Lois E. Dunkman of Everett, Lloyd W. Crowell and his companion, Donna of Leominister; Keith A. Crowell and his wife, Maureen of Everett and William S. Crowell and his wife, Patricia of Plaistow, NH; brother of the late Fred Crowell and Dr. Lois B. Crowell and is also survived by 16 loving grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Glendale United Methodist Church, 352 Ferry St., Everett, today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Nicholas ‘Nick’ Bonfiglio

Of Malden, formerly of the North End

Nicholas “Nick” Bonfiglio of Malden, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on December 8.

He was the beloved son of the late Catina (Buttiglieri) and Joseph Bonfiglio; loving husband of Wilhelmina “Nina” (Saccardo) Bonfiglio; cherished brother of Ann Veneziano of Brighton and her late husband, Rocco, Charles Bonfiglio of Westwood and his late wife, Marie, and Rose Ciccio of Everett and her late husband, Dominic and is also survived by many loving nephews and nieces.

Robert ‘Bob’ ‘Mac’ Macarelli

Robert J. “Bob” “Mac” Macarelli of Everett died on December 9.

He was the beloved husband of Irene (Scales) and loving father of Tiffani and Tammi Macarelli; loving Papa of Kevin; son of the late Joseph and Eleanor Mcarelli and loving brother of Joseph and Rick Macarelli and Louise Dunne. He is survived by one loving granddaughter, Gina, his faithful companions, Fenway and Kili, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Robert Gertz

Professional Artist

Robert E. “Bob” Gertz of Ipswich formerly of Everett, died on December 7. He was 83 years old.

A  US Army Korean War Veteran, he was a professional artist and a member of both Newburyport and Haverhill Art Association.

He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine F. (Kelley) Gertz; loving father of Robert E. Gertz, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Susan Dooley of Chelmsford, Pamela Soucy of Hudson, NH, David Gertz of Everett, Maryjo Roberts of Bellingham, Anne Kane of Stoughton, and Julieanne Williams of Tyngsboro; loving father in law of Mary Gertz, Kevin Dooley, Mark Roberts and Dennis Kane. He is also survived by 13 loving grandchildren.

Lawrence Kelleher

Retired Everett Police Patrolman

Lawrence J. “Larry” Kelleher of Tewksbury, a retired Everett Police Officer, died December 8 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading after a three month battle with cancer. He was 83 years old.

The beloved husband of the late Roberta E. “Bobbie” (Gallagher) Kelleher, who died in 1996, he was born in Somerville, May 6, 1928, the son of the late Cornelius J. and Helen (Falvey) Kelleher and was raised in Everett, where he lived most of his life. He retired to Hallandale, Florida, and returned to Tewksbury in 2004.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy as a shipboard cook on the USS Roy in the Asiatic-Pacific War Theater.He worked as an Everett Police Officer for 31 years and retired as Patrolman in 1980. As a Tewksbury resident, he was a communicant of St. William’s Church, and a member of the Tewksbury D.A.V. Post 110. He was also a member of both the Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts in Hallandale, FL.

He was the devoted father of six children, the late Patricia and her husband, John McGrath, Lawrence R. Kelleher of Lowell, Lynne Birchett and her husband, James of Tewksbury, Roberta Pietrello of Tewksbury and her late husband, Charles, Cornelius J. “Neil” Kelleher and his wife, Lorretta (Doucette) of Everett and Colleen Carroll and her husband, John of Methuen. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, Patricia Birchett, John McGrath, Reed Kelleher, Jenna Kelleher, Merissa Kelleher, Lawrence Kelleher Jr., Sheena Kelleher, Cassie Kelleher, Samantha Pietrello, Amanda Pietrello, Cal Carroll and Nicole Carroll; three great grandchildren, Cameron, Avery, and Macie and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Kathleen Allegra.

Elizabeth L. (Ferretti) Dondero of Swampscott, a former long time resident of Everett, died on December 7.

She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Dondero; devoted mother of John A. Dondero of Everett, Lorraine E. Ellis of Swampscott, and Edward A. Dondero of Saugus; cherished sister of the late Andrew Ferretti, Anna Ferretti, and Louise Basso; loving grandmother of Lisa, Robert, Jay, Jennifer, Jacquelyn, Brian and Katelyn, and proud great grandmother of seven.

Elsbeth B. (Horath) Colson of Everett died on December 7. She was 81 years old.

A loving homemaker, she was the beloved wife of Stanley V. Colson; loving mother of Bernard Colson of Everett, Ralph and Linda Colson of Nahant and Carl and Judy Colson of Everett; loving sister of Karl Horath and Annemarie Ebner; cherished grandmother of Matthew, Allison, Daryl Ann, and Elsbeth. Charles Tumasz of Malden died on December 7. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Tumasz was a US Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the ARRL, a longtime employee of the MBTA and a member of the Polish American Club in Chelsea.

He was the beloved husband of Lucille E. (Sapega) Tumasz; loving father of Robert Tumasz and his wife, Karen of Saugus, Lucy Ellen Tumasz and her husband, George Westenhoefer of Beverly Hills, FL and Steven Tumasz and his wife, Laurie of Chichester, NH; loving brother of the late Victoria Reczek, the late Edward and Frank Tumasz; cherished grandfather of Erik, Susan, Merideth, and Stephanie. She was the loving daughter of the late Patrick and Katherine Dorney, sister of Madeline Connelly and the late Joseph, John, Thomas and Raymond Dorney, Mildred O’Malley and Ethel McNamara. Gerald P. Moltedo of Everett died on December 6 surrounded by his loving family and his beloved wife of 49 years Janet M. (Butler). Frances N. (Juliano) Sabbagh of Everett died on December 3. She was 92 years old.

The beloved wife of the late Philip G. Sabbagh, she was the loving mother of Janet DiNanno of Wakefield, Phyllis Morley of Everett, Patricia Stempkowski of Arizona, Robert Sabbagh of Alabama, Phillip Sabbagh of Tewksbury, and the late William J. Sabbagh. She is also survived by 11-cherished grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

David Murphy

Former Shipper and Receiver

David M. Murphy, a former shipper and receiver, died at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston on December 4 following a brief but overwhelming illness. He was 59 years old.

Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late James H. and C. Marie (Ouellette) Murphy. He attended schools in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. A longtime Everett resident, he had been residing in Chelsea for just over four years.

He worked as a mail handler and forklift operator for PFPC in Lynnfield and also worked at the former Hub Wire and Cloth Co. in Everett for many years.  He enjoyed H.O. Model Railroading, listening to music and was an avid reader.

He was the beloved husband of 35 years to Laurie Murphy of Chelsea; devoted father of Jaime Murphy of Chelsea; dear brother of Nancy M. Caswell of Clinton and Claudia Corbe of Youngstown, OH; cherished grandfather of Jocelyn L., Jessenia L. and Johanna L. Gonzalez and is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

(Caicedo) Sanchez; loving father of Henry Sanchez, Nelly Ortega, Rene Sanchez, German Sanchez, Patricia Silva, Nelson Sanchez, Magda Farren, Carolina Rotondo, and Yamile Sanchez. He is also survived by 27 cherished grandchildren, one cherished great grandchild, and sons and daughters in law.
